Your looking at a long range Wi-Fi 14.3dBi Yagi Cantenna kit compatible with famous Alfa 1000mW AWUSO36H on the 2.4Ghz frequency. This kit is meant to mount outside on a pole or mast and works by receiving signals up to 3 miles away with a 36 degree directional reception cone. NOTE: To reach 3 miles of reception it is important to place the antenna as high as possible in order to clear any obstructions like trees or houses. The antenna is USA made on our factory floor with precision stamped metal elements inside the tube housing. The housing will withstand years of use in the elements of wind and cold. It comes fitted with an N-Type Female connector ready to accept N male connectors to bring the signal down to your USB adapter. The Alfa with this kit is based on the Realtek 8187L Chipset compatible with all operating software (except Lion). Plug and play with Linux means no software is needed but for other OS users of Windows and Mac a cd is included (except Lion for Mac). The adapter will connect to 802.11bg networks at 1000mW of power. For a white Yagi Cantenna kit start HERE!

Q: How does it work?
The yagi cantenna is used to focus signal in a reception area or transmitting area. If you want to receive a faraway signal you need to purchase a USB WiFi adapter (a WiFi radio tuned to the 2.4GHz frequency, just like how your car radio picks up only AM/FM frequencies) and a cable extension with a length of your choice. The antenna is directional meaning that instead of “looking” for signals in a 360 degree radius like an omni-directional antenna, it focuses down to 36 degrees which allows it reach greater distances in the area in front of the yagi cantenna. Outside this cone the antenna will not see the signal. To transmit a signal you currently pay for over a larger area or to your guest house you would need to already have a router which has removable antennas. Lynkis D-Link is a popular one for this set up. You would then need to choose the correct cable type and connectors for the job (usually TNC RP on the router end). Since your WiFi radio (router) is a transmitter, the signal will travel up the cable and out the cantenna in a 36 degree cone out from the end of the tube. So just point to the area you want the signal and your good to go.

Q: What connections have to be made?
The antenna comes with an N-Female connector. So any cable that has an N-Male connector on either end will connect. For most USB adapters on the market a cable assembly with N-Male to SMA-RP will work. For most Routers such as Lynksis brand, an N-Male to TNC RP assembly is needed.

Q: Will the Alfa 1000 mW USB adapter work with the 14dBi Yagi cantenna? A: Yes these would work together. And reviews on this pairing show that it is a great combination but it is not 802.11n compatible. Just choose a cable length with N Male to SMArp connectors.
Q: My neighbor has wifi about 3/4 of a mile away, there are no other houses in the way and I'm on a hill above him. Can I use your 14 dBi Yagi 2.4GHz WiFi Directional Antenna to borrow his signal?
A: Yes. The higher the antenna the more signals and distance you will gain. Especially since there is not any major obstructions in the way. With this scenario you can see a signal well over a mile using our Yagi cantenna.

IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND!
When dealing with WiFi you want to have the clearest line of sight as possible between the signal and the antenna. The more things in the way, like trees and houses, the shorter the distance covered and the worse the signal strength. Try to place the antenna on a pole or mast above the tree line or houses. Also, you want the strongest receiver or transmitter your budget can afford.
